I was very kindly invited to Christmas drinks by "our man at the bank", Andy Button @ HSBC. The "do" was held in the fabulous Merchant Venturers building in Clifton.
The Society of Merchant Venturers has had an important influence on the history of Bristol for more than 450 years, for much of that time performing a vital role in regulating the seaborne trade with the City for the benefit of Bristol. By the 19th century the Society had developed increasing philanthropic interests.
