One of the things we teach in our Social Media for law firms training sessions is to get a Hootsuite account and get multiple social media profiles registered with it so that you can post items to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn Network Updates etc from one centralised place. There is a free version called HootSuite Basic which you can use to connect up to five social media profiles. More than this and you are into the Pro version.
One of the great uses of Hootsuite is to post the same LinkedIn Network Update to multiple LinkedIn profiles for your staff. This can be a fantastically effective way of communicating to people's LinkedIn networks yet saving them time from having to post their own content.
Here's my quick guide to getting multiple LinkedIn profiles connected to one Hootsuite account.
- Get an orderly queue of people at your desk.
- Log out of LinkedIn in whatever browser you usually use and leave that browser tab open.
- Open a new browser tab and log in to Hootsuite and click on your profile icon i.e. where you photo appears in the left hand toolbar.
- Click on Add a Social Network.
- Select LinkedIn from the left hand side.
- Click on Connect with LinkedIn on the right hand side. Have the first person log in to LinkedIn. Then select their profile and or any groups you want connected through their account. I usually recommend just connecting their profile.
- Click OK.
- Now go back to the other browser tab that you have open and click on the LinkedIn "home" button. The browser window will now refresh and will appear to be logged in as the person you just connected to Hootsuite. Log that person out of LinkedIn.
- Go back to step 2 and repeat.
