Yesterday I spent all day at the SugarCRM Acceleration Summit; basicallly a posh name for a combined marketing/user group event.

It was great to mingle with other SugarCRM partners and users, and hear more about the product roadmap for Sugar.  Larry Augustin the CEO was there along with loads of other SugarCRM staff, plus over 100 delegates.

Larry's keynote made three main points regarding CRM software in general and how it needs to be :-

  • Social - five years ago it was Digg, now it's LinkedIn, Facebook & Twitter. What's going to be next? An "open" platform is needed to ensure you can integrate easily with whatever comes next

  • Mobile - if you'd backed Nokia in 2009 when they had 40% of all mobile devices where would you be now?  HTML5 and open standards are they way to go with mobile CRM

  • Cloud - public cloud, private cloud, on-premise, SugarCRM runs on all of them, compared to Salesforce (for example) which is their cloud only

You can download a detailed PDF of my notes from the day in the form of a mindmap.
