Using Outlook "Rules" to forward on LinkedIn updates

We've been using Hootsuite for a couple of years now to help manage all our social media activity.  One of the things we use it for is to post updates to the LinkedIn Update for a number of our client facing staff.

One of the problems has been doing this yet keeping them informed of what we are posting on their behalf.  If it goes out under their name they at least ought to know about it just in case people respond with comments.

So what I have done is set up a "rule" in my email client (Thunderbird on a Mac in my case) that forwards on an email to a certain member of the team when a condition is matched.  Here's what it looks like in my email client.

Using Outlook rules for forwarding on LinkedIn updates

So here the rule looks for the string "LinkedInProfile: Rich Dibbins" and when it matches, it forwards the email on to Rich.

Please note: The lack of a space between the words LinkedIn and Profile is deliberate.  In the email you will see on screen there IS a gap, but when we had a gap in the string, the email did not forward.  When we looked at the underlying HTML of the email, for some reason there was NO gap.  We changed it and it worked.

Give it a try.
