On the 28-Jan we sent out the ConsciousLaw newsletter. This is a newsletter targeted in the main at prospective clients, so it covers a little bit about how we can help them, and a lot about what we see going on around the legal marketing arena and the wider legal services market.
Here are some stats from this email newsletter campaign :-
- Sent = 3,160 distinct email addresses
- Bounces = 351 (lots of redundancies since the last newsletter)
- Unsubscribes = 10
You can see the immediate impact on overall traffic to our website from the spike in traffic on the 28th itself, this snippet is taken from Google Analytics.
The newsletter contained links to lots of things, some on our site, some on other people's sites. Here is some analysis of what people did when they opened the newsletter :-
Link | Result | |||
To crossword page | 69 people visited. 11 completed the crossword. Average time spent on the page was 4:30.
Tips booklet download page | 104 people visited. 69 downloaded something. Three people immediately emailed us. Two demos were booked.
Google Analytics network location report blog story | 53 people visited this page. Average time spent on the page was 3:36.
Skype blog story | 20 people visited this page. Average time spent on the page was 1:31.
Link to Nelsons website | The way to look at this is consider what number of visits Nelsons would get "direct" to their website each day. As the clicks came via an HTML email they show up the same as if someone just typed the domain name into their browser. Here is the data for the 28-Jan and the day either side :-
So you can clearly see that more people visited the Nelsons site on the day we sent out our newsletter. |
Lastly, using the Google Analytics network location report, I know for fact, that people from the following firms visited our website sometime on the 28-Jan :-
JCP Solicitors, Veale Wasbrough, Bennett Griffin, Bonnett Son & Turrner, Boys & Maughan, Christoper Davidson, Withy King, Coley & Tilley, Graysons, Langer Parry, Lawson West, Pinney Rogers, Thring Townsend, AMS Law, Birkett Long, Blakemores, Blaser Mills, Brooks & Partners, Chafes, Chambers of Ian Burnett QC, Colman Coyle, Crisp & Co, Dickson Haslam.
This is just another example of :-
- how well email newsletters can work and
- why the content of the newsletter is so important and
- just how much good marketing data you can get as a result of an email newsletter.
