It’s hopefully not a surprise to you that social media can be a great tool for law firms. According to a recent study, social media is now a top sales channel for a quarter of UK small businesses. And what’s to say your law firm can’t be one of them?

Not only can social media showcase your firm’s expertise, position your firm as a thought leader in the industry and increase brand awareness, but it can be used for lead generation too. And social media isn’t just for potential clients, you can also use it as a recruitment tool by showing followers what it’s like to work at your firm.

But I’m sure you know this already!

Whether you’re a firm that is active on social media or a firm that is new to social media, this blog post will discuss five tools we love at Conscious to help make social media easier to manage. So, this is what you need to invest in to win on social media.

A scheduling tool

A social media scheduling tool can be a game-changer for several reasons!

Firstly, it can save time, something we know law firm marketers don’t have a huge amount of! We use Hootsuite, but there are other free platforms available. And LinkedIn, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) now let you schedule content directly from the app.

Additionally, scheduling tools allow you to reach a wider audience by posting consistently, even when you're not actively present. These tools also help manage multiple platforms, ensuring that your content is being shared across all relevant channels.

And another huge benefit is that scheduling tools provide in-depth analytics, allowing you to track the performance of your posts and inform future marketing strategies without you having to do anything else.

A design tool

Visually appealing and professional-looking content is the way to stand out on social media. You don’t necessarily need a graphic designer, as tools like Canva are free and simple to use (although they do offer paid premium accounts with additional features).

Design plays a crucial role in making a good first impression and engaging users on social media so it’s important to spend a bit of time on your creations. A design tool provides the necessary features and templates to create eye-catching graphics, images, and videos that align with the brand's visual identity and messaging.

By using a design tool, marketers can ensure consistency in their social media posts, establish a strong brand presence, and stand out from competitors.

A video editing tool

Videos are a powerful tool for social media marketing,

Similar to design tools like Canva, video editing software is beneficial for social media because it allows marketers to create visually appealing and professional-looking videos on a small budget. Canva even has features for video creation, but a tool we especially like is CapCut. CapCut is an all-in-one video editing tool. One of our favourite features is automated closed-captions and subtitles allowing your law firm to create inclusive content.

Videos help to build relationships with your audience and drive traffic to your website.

A proofing tool

You could be the best copywriter in the world, but that doesn’t mean the content you write will always be grammatically correct or portray your point in the best way.

We’d recommend using a proofing tool before sharing any posts on social media. This goes for the information on your images and videos too.

Grammarly is a great tool we use that can be added to Microsoft Office products, Canva, Hootsuite and any web browser.

This means you can ensure the content you are putting out is of the highest quality.

Well-written content will be seen as more professional, give the audience clarity over what you are saying, help grab the reader’s attention and build trust.

In addition to proofing tools, Grammarly has recently implemented AI software to support your writing. Of course, we don’t recommend using AI to write the final draft of your social media captions, but if you are struggling with some ideas, this might be a place to start!

A content calendar

Consistency is key when it comes to winning on social media because it can lead to a better engagement rate. But in addition to this, it shows that your firm is investing time in offering valuable content to followers.

A content calendar is a great tool in helping you achieve this consistency because it helps you to plan and organise content across multiple platforms, ensuring you can take advantage of any upcoming events or getting ahead of the latest legislation. By conducting a comprehensive audit of your law firm’s social media presence and gathering data on engagement, a content calendar can be tailored to meet the specific needs of your audience.

Make sure to determine your firm’s content pillars and plug these regular posts into your content calendar. You can then create ad-hoc content around these main content pillars.

You can find many free content calendar templates for social media online that can be adapted to your needs.
