A whole month ago, I stepped into the role of Client Services Executive at Conscious Solutions.
Coming from a background in an unrelated industry, but armed with a handful of transferrable skills, changing career paths could have been daunting, however, I’ve never felt more welcomed or supported at work. Neither have I received a more generous welcome package on my first day!
As part of what we call ‘the Client Services (CS) team’, I’m one of the first points of contact for our clients. I provide content management system (CMS) training and troubleshooting, as well as updates and edits to our client’s websites. The rest of the team is super knowledgeable and has offered me unreserved support over my first few weeks.
How do Conscious Solutions show empowerment?
Towards the end of my job interview, David Gilroy, our Managing Director, asked if I had any concerns about the role. I replied something along the lines of having apprehension about not being up to speed with the latest technology and processes. A bit of a risky thing to admit during an interview, I know, but to which David responded, “Anything like that can be learned.”.
In any new job, you’re going to be learning new things, but I feel like the training and assistance I’ve received over the last month has had an extra layer of empowerment. For example, when I’ve been shown how to do something new in the CMS, rather than simply being given “how to” instructions, I’ve received an enthusiastic sharing of knowledge about how to complete that task and also shown how that new skill or process could be applied elsewhere.
My favourite thing about working at Conscious so far?
This has been a very welcoming, friendly and helpful team, who are equally knowledgeable, skilful and professional.
My day-to-day duties consist of?
Responding to a wide range of client queries via phone, video call and email. Providing CMS training and support. Content loading, photo editing and various admin tasks. Every day is different, and you never know what you’re going to be asked to do next. Staying organised in this environment means that clients can rely on us to get the job done quickly and correctly.
The biggest lesson so far?
"If you’re not sure, ask."
I’m looking forward to?
Continuing to learn and grow.
