It’s that time of year once again, everybody. Michael Bublé has almost finished defrosting, the Lynx Africa gift sets are being stacked high, and, after reading this intro, you’re probably starting to feel an indescribable sense of panic in the pit of your stomach.
Yes, it’s Christmas!
While the festive season is, of course, a time of giving, those in the know also recognise that it’s a unique opportunity to maximise your marketing efforts. As my colleague Jonathan discussed in a previous blog post, direct to consumer brands will always thrive during season marketing periods like Christmas – but that doesn’t mean other businesses can’t take advantage either!
So, why should your law firm be paying special attention to its marketing plan this Christmas?
Develop or Differentiate Your Firm’s Personality
Ask yourself this; what is it about your law firm that makes us stand out from our competitors? Naturally, there’s no right or wrong answer to this question, but it’s important to understand where your approach differs (or adheres) to the established norm.
That’s where Christmas marketing comes in particularly handy. The positive energy shared by the majority of the general public during the Christmas period gives you license to be as creative as you like with your marketing.
This can either help to cement and emphasis your existing tone of voice or to shake things up and branch off in a new direction – there’s nothing wrong with your firm showing a human side at Christmas.
Boost Social Media Presence and Engagement
Social media is an essential component of any successful digital marketing campaign. Admittedly, that’s not exactly a revolutionary statement, but it will usually ring true, no matter what platforms your firm uses, or what sort of content you’d like to promote.
However, there isn’t an exact formula to succeeding on social media. You can follow all the guides you want on when to post, what to post and which platforms are best to use, but this won’t guarantee that you’ll be able to achieve any notable engagement.
That often changes at Christmas! The festive season will offer up plenty of opportunities to create unique content that exists to promote your brand rather than the services you provide.
You Don’t Need to Break the (Marketing) Bank
When a marketing plan is devised, the first thing that will often be discussed is the associated budget. That won’t change any time soon, but, when it comes to Christmas marketing, it’s not as much of an issue as you might initially expect.
Using our Christmas marketing services as an example, there are plenty of different approaches you can take which will suit a wide range of different budgets.
So, even if you don’t have the money, or resources, to carry out a full-scale Christmas marketing campaign, there are still ways your firm can spread some festive cheer. Christmas cracker joke anyone?
Use the Opportunity to Promote a Unique Offer
Promoting offers or prizes isn’t something many law firms consider doing during the normal year, but Christmas can present a unique opportunity to try something different, especially if you’ve enjoyed a solid year up until that point.
At Conscious, we have organised an advent calendar prize draw for the past five years, where people can sign up for a chance to win a prize every day. Just to illustrate how successful this can be in terms of engagement, last year’s advent calendar displaying our sponsor’s logos was viewed over 10,000 times and the total number of entrants was 4,582.
So, if your budget allows for it, a prize draw or special offer can be a great way of promoting your firm.
